U.S. Suspends Entry of F & J visa for Select Chinese

BREAKING: President Donald Trump issued a proclamation barring select Chinese nationals on a F or J visa to study or conduct research in the United States. He claims it is due to a threat to the long-term economic vitality of the United States, and the safety and security of the American people.
This proclamation is effective at 12:00 p.m. eastern daylight time on June 1, 2020. It will remain in effect until terminated by the President. The Secretary of State, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, may at any time recommend that the President continue, modify, or terminate this proclamation.
Chinese foreigners who will be impacted include:
- Chinese nationals that are outside of the U.S. and do not have a valid F or J visa.
- Impact: They will be unable to be granted such a visa.
- Chinese nationals that are outside of the U.S. with a valid F or J visa
- Impact: They cannot enter the U.S.
- Chinese nationals that are in the U.S. with valid F or J
- Impact: Their visas may be revoked
Chinese foreigners who will not be impacted:
- Undergraduate students
- Green card holders
- Those that are not related to “military-civil fusion strategy”
- U.S. citizen or greencard holders’ spouse
- U.S. military members, their spouses, and their children
